Mach Dice App Reviews

Excellence

The ultimate dice app. After a long time searching and after trying a dozen others, this is the best!

Almost 5 stars

The only request I have is to allow the user to manually set which face of the die is up.

Perfect

It does exactly what it says it does, and it works like a charm. Now I regret spending 20-plus bucks on D&D dice!

Running out of memory?

The memory thats running out and causing the odd error messages is the RAM not the hard drive. I believe its caused by the history of previous rolls filling up because theres no way to clear it besides restarting.

Reroll dice in history,please!

Used this last night when helping hubby test some NPCs. Overall it was very nice, but theres a feature that would make this 4-star app a 5. This was a combat scene, so there were initiative, combat, defense, damage, etc rolls all happening in quick succession. It quickly became cumbersome to retype the same combos over and over. As it already keeps a history, why not add a feature where one could tap on a previous set of dice in the list and have them rerolled? That would really make my dicebag obsolete...

Almost Everything You Could Want

All standard gaming dice types are given full 3D counterparts, from a coin shaped d2 up through the d12 and d20. Selecting dice to roll is as simple as typing in "2d10+1d6" and hitting "Roll", and watch as three dice hit the table. Rerolling only select dice is easy, as you can select which dice to hold in place while you reroll the rest. It even takes tilt data and changes your angle of view of the dice, so that you can actually look at the table from different angles and see different sides of the dice. The only thing Ive found that it is missing is the ability to automatically drop dice from a roll (such as 4d6 drop lowest). Other than that, it does everything. Even non-standard dice, like d30 and d100 are supported. The 3D image is that of a d20 with ? on each face, but it does tell you what the roll was. d7, d13, d92, whatever you could want, this can roll. Ability to customize table and dice colors just add to the feel. Easily the best dice roller out there for tabletop gaming needs.

Great dice app with room for polish...

This is the best polyhedral dice app Ive found so far, but it could use a little polish. Here are some ideas... - setting to set six-sided dice to display numbers or pips (dots) - setting to change background (maybe using photos on the iPhone?) - setting to change dice color (textures might be cool too) - setting to change color of numbers on dice. - "favorites" (list of user-entered labels associated with rolling formulas)

Needs work

I tried this for about half a session of D&D. Honestly I found the number / letter input slow and cumbersome. It doesnt help that the letters and numbers are on different keyboards. Myself and others around me quickly became impatient waiting for me to enter rolls and the app was abandoned in favor of "Dice Roller". It is faster, matches the D&D manuals, and has a much better feature set than Mach Dice.

So close to perfection!

Stop with the colors and diffferent backgrounds it just wastes memory and space. Add different groups. So for one group(like the players) have a d10+d6, a d20, and a 3d6 for example. And then have the Dungeon Master have their own group of dice. So the players and DM can quickly switch to the dice set they need.

Works well, but needs more to be practical

This app works well, but its not efficient enough to be worthwhile for dnd. Some features that would make this more practical for gaming: -significantly increase the # of saved comibinations -add the ability to label the dice combos -add a comma to the dice keyboard so multiple totals can be determined in one roll -more interesting colors & patterns -larger font all around

Great

This is a wonderful dice roller and does what it says very well. I love the 3d effect, especially when you tip to see the sides of a d4. I will continue to support this app as long as it is upgraded. Great job!

Keep Trying...

I gave this app another try after about 6 months of using other dice apps. Unfortunately, this app seems fatally flawed. Slow load times, awkward dice "feel", and still prone to frequent crashes & severe memory leaks (had to reboot my iphone to clear the memory error -- same problem as I had before). Sorry Mach Dice. Other dice apps do it better.

To static

This dice roller is to perfect. If I roll 36 d6 say for warhammer 40k and the to hit is 4+ I can gaurente that I am going to get at least 15ish hits. This is all the time. It is an on going joke that when I pull out my iPhone people know I am going to hit.

Great app

I would suggest 1 important modification that would add greatly to the realism of the animation. Round the edges of the dices to make them look like real ones

Excellent and Fun!

I bought this app to roll dice in D&D and various board games, and it works wonderfully. The feature set is very solid, and the ability to have multiple dice configurations that you can flip through easily is very handy. The rolling animations are nice and make this much better than a free dice roller like dice bag, which makes rolling in games considerably less exciting in my opinion. I can suggest a few features, such as a much better ui for inputting dice formulas, and customizable backgrounds, but this app does what it promises and more, and is clearly worth of 5-star review.

The best!

Great dice App! The best Ive ever seen. Keep up the good work!

This is exactly what you want for RPGs...

Awesome app. You cant beat the price either. It handles inputting of dice amounts perfectly, and the rolling is fun. Its only lacking the ability to choose your own background and the available dice skins arent the best, but those are very minor things. Highly, highly recommended.

Virtual dice

Great app for rolling when dice are unavailable or impractical - also just a lot of fun. Lots of customization, works with lots of systems like D20, Warhammer, Vampire etc. because you. Can pick and choose and die in any configuation, up to 100 die at once. Really cool!

Excellent app!

Does its thing and does it really well.

Suggestion

I roll d20 as an attack die as well as all my damage dice in one throw. Any way to make a user selected die excluded from the auto total? Also being able to set our own wallpaper would be awesome. Good app.
